ad+1

4G, shorted from fourth generation,  which is the fourth generation mobile telecommunication technology, after the success of 3rd generation technology commonly knows as 3G and preceding 5G.
A 4G provides High speed Internet access into various electronic devices like  laptops( using  wireless modems)  , to smartphones, and to other mobile devices.
Applications of 4G include amended IPTelephony, mobile web access,,gaming services, HD Mobile TV, video conferencing and also used for cloud computing purposes.

4G  systems are commercially deployed  by mobile wimax standard ( in South Korea in 2007), and the first-release  (LTE) Lond Term Evolution standard (in Sweden since 2009).

USB wireless modems were  the first devices able to access these networks, with WiMAX enabled mobile phones and smartphones.   LTE smartphones are launched in 2011.
Unfortunately 3G and 4G equipment made for other continents are not always compatible because of different frequency bands. Mobile WiMAX is not available for the European market as of April 2012.
